Down Comes the Rain...Down Come the Prices

Bring on the Rain!

We're set to get pounded tonight and tomorrow morning with another nice storm. The rain has brought back the warmer temps and the hills are once again green with grass. If you're outside of CA, you might think it odd that our hills turn from golden to green in the winter, but that's the way it works out here.

This week has flown by with a rush of holiday orders to fill and a huge influx of consumer electronics repairs that everyone seems to want to get in (and back out) before Christmas.

Tomorrow is Skylar's last day or 3rd grade this year as they wrap up things with a holiday party and a visit from Santa. He'll arrive in the back of someone's pickup truck and the kids will be ready for pickup themselves by 11:30. No more homework until after Jan 4 - which makes me as happy as it does her. Ethan's got another week before his pre-school break and then all heck will break loose as both the kids visit the office to keep everyone on their toes during the week between Christmas and New Years. With both kids and the dog running around, it's pretty hard to keep a smile of your face. If you call to schedule service or place an order, don't be surprised by the giggling and barking in the background...

Here's a couple of specials to keep you warm and toasty if it's freezing where you are. These guys make great presents, stocking stuffers or end of year gifts for yourself! The coupons will expire on 12/23:

Have a great weekend and stay dry!

Oh the tangled webs we weave....all in the name of Christmas

So, it's time to put the Christmas lights up, right? No problem. I seem to remember that I put them all away in nice neat groups last year so I wouldn't have the dreaded Tangle Nightmare that occurs all too frequently this time of year.

Don't get me wrong, I love having the house decorated, lights all over the place, smiling little kids and everything that comes along this time of year. So, with that in mind, I wrestle the holiday crates down from the rafters in the garage, cursing under my breath (Skylar and Ethan were in there with me) as a bunch of debris from our new roof installation (sawdust, wood chips, little pieces of wood) sailed down onto my face over and over again as I carried the plastic crates full of joy down the ladder. Once we got on the ground, we tore into the boxes and everything looked great. The kids began bringing the inside decorations into the house and I placed all the outside decor out on the lawn.

Then, this happened:

How, you might ask? After thinking I had put everything away nice and neat after the last New Year, I realized that I was just fooling myself and I had done my usual "I'll deal with it later" trick and dumped all the lights together in one big box. Good for me. I then spent the next 40 minutes or so pulling, twisting, pushing and working on the puzzle that was once our Christmas lights. I finally began to make some progress and with a little more patience, we had setup the giant Snowmen, the little Christmas trees that go on the lawn and with five or six hundred of the little lights, a "skating rink" on the front lawn. And you know what? It looks pretty darn good. This year, I'll definitely, be putting things away better than before. ;-)
