Web Sites On Your Phone

Surfing the web on your phone can be a less than graceful experience, with slow load times and ill-formatted content - not to mention the stress of wondering if you're exceeding download limits for your plan. Reify Software is changing all of that, with a free online service called Plusmo. Installing a small program on your phone or PDA allows you to view condensed versions of web-sites off-line. Plusmo optionally updates the "channnels" that you subscribe to and then promptly disconnects, allowing you to read your favorite sites at your leisure. Subscriptions can be managed via phone or Plusmo's site, on your computer. In addition to choosing from hundreds of web-sites, you can also add your own web site to Plusmo, for the enjoyment of yourself and others. The convenience and novelty of being able to kill a few extra minutes in the check-out line by reading your favorite blog, complete with photos resized to fit your phone, is not to be underestimated. Plusmo rocks! That said, Mac users should be aware that they will need to update their subscriptions via phone, since Plusmo is still working out some compatibility issues on their site. Also, since I had an older phone, the first version of Plusmo I tried failed to allocate enough memory for picture viewing. However, Plusmo tech support was quick to suggest an alternate download that works perfectly.
